5.2.5 Power Detector
TheHPOD featuresa powerdetectorto monitortheoutput power.It hasauseful rangeof over20 dB,referenced tothe unit’s rated
P1dBpoint.Toreaditsvalue,executethe“RMS”query(e.g.,<1/RMS?<cr>).Thetestdatasuppliedwitheachunitgivesanindicati onof
theaccuracyandflatnessofthepowermonitoroverthefre
quencybandofoperation.
5.2.6 Most Common Remote Queries
RMS(RetrieveMaintenanceStatus):Displaysvoltages,fanspeeds,Heatsinktemperature,outputpowermonitorreading,etc.
RCS(RetrieveConfigurationStatus):Displayscurrentattenuation,mute,amplifi er,online,etc.status.
RAS(RetrieveAlarmStatus):Displayscurrentalarmorfaultstatus.
5.3 Serial Remote Control Introduction
SerialbasedRemoteProductManagementoftheHPODisavailableviaitsJ6|COM1port.ThisinterfaceiseitheranEIA485multidrop
bus (for the control of multiple device s) or an EIA232 connecti on (for the control of a single device). The interface transmits data in
asynchronousserialform,usingASCIIcharacters.Thi
sdataconsistsofcontrolandstatusinformation,transmittedinpacketsofvariable
lengthinaccordancewiththestructureandprotocolexplainedlaterinthischapter.
5.3.1 EIA-485
Forapplicationswheremultipledevicesaretobemonitoredandcontrolled,fullduplex(4wireplusground)EIA485ispreferred.Half
duplex (2wire plus ground) EIA485 is possible, but is not preferred. In fullduplex EIA485 communication, there are two separate,
isolated,independent,differentialmodetwistedpairs,eachhandli
ngserialdataindifferentdirections.
