4.2 Ethernet Management Interface Protocols

• Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). This non‐secure interface requires a
user‐supplied Network Management System (NMS) and a user‐supplied Management
InformationBase(MIB)FileBrowser.
• Telnet Interface.Thisnon‐sec
ureinterfacerequires useofthe userPC’sCommand‐line
interface,orauser‐suppliedterminalemulationprogramsuchasHyperTerminal.
• HPOD Web Server (HTTP) Interface. This non‐secure interface requires a compatible
user‐suppliedwebbrowsersuchasInternetExplorer.
4.3 SNMP Interface

• Themanageddevice.ThisincludestheHPOD.
• The SNMP Agent. This is thesoftware that runs on theHPOD. The HPOD SNMP Agent
supportsbothSNMPv1andSNMPv2c.
• Theuser‐suppliedNetworkManagementSystem(NMS).Thisisthesoftwarethatruns
onthemanager.
