9.4.2. Generic WAN Configurations
WAN interface configurations of are shown in the next screen.
The two WAN interfaces are enabled individually. IP configurations of disabled WAN interfaces are
ignored.
WAN1 always uses the DMLAN protocol. WAN2 has a possibility of protocol selection: PPP and Frame
Relay.
A change in the protocol of WAN2 requires resetting of the equipment and, consequently, leads to a
temporary loss of the management link and of data which are in the tributary channel interface. It is
recommended that this configuration be defined prior to installation, in order to avoid the interruption of
data transmission.
In the last lines of the screen, the link status for both WAN interfaces is presented. Possible values for
WAN1 status and for WAN2 configured as Frame Relay are only UP and DOWN (refer to item 9.4.10, on
status options for virtual circuits); WAN2 using PPP presents the following possible status options:
• UP: Active interface.
• disable: Interface locally disabled by the user.
• physical connection disable / IP connection disable: Connection disabled by configuration.
• disable and without physical connection: Interface locally disabled, with no physical PPP
connection.
• without physical connection: Interface without physical connection.
• DOWN: Deactivated interface.
