DM16E1 / DM4E1 Operation and Installation Manual - 204-4001-19 68
8.3.1. Inverse Multiplexer Management Configuration
Once the Inverse Multiplexer Management is enabled, some specific configurations should be executed
towards the right functioning:
• The Inverse Multiplexing option must be enabled in the terminal.
• In the aggregate map, the only map options that may be enable are passthrough or BG (bridge to
G.703).
• The aggregates must be disabled.
• The topology must be Point to Point.
• The backup option must be disabled.
• The WAN 2 must disabled.
• At the DM4E1 with enabled Inverse Multiplexing, the channels B1, B2, B3, B4 should be on the
first-four positions of the aggregated mapping table, in order.
Once all these items are configured, the inverse multiplexing will operate correctly.
8.4. Status
The Bridge interface presents two types of status according to the inverse multiplexing configuration.
If inverse multiplexing is disabled, the screen shown below will be presented:
# -------------------------------------------------------------------------
# DataCom Telematica - DM16E1 Multiplexer
# /local/status/ports/Bridge
# -------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Port Status
# Slot 5 - Port 01 - Ethernet Bridge

# Operation :[ Active ]
# Ethernet Link :[ Off ]
# Speed :[ 4xE1 ]

The Bridge status menu has the following indications:
• Operation: Indicates that the Bridge port is active (present at the tributary table).
• Ethernet Link: Status of the 100baseT Bridge interface. Indicates ON for properly connected
interfaces.
• Speed: Indicates the speed configured for the Bridge.
In cases where the Bridge is configured with inverse multiplexing, the status window is different, indicating
the individual status of each E1 channel configured. This window is presented below.
In addition to the port and Ethernet link activation status, the synchronization status of each E1 channel is
presented individually. Only synchronized channels (indicated by “S”) are used by the Bridge; the available
rate can be calculated by multiplying the number of synchronized channels by the E1 channel rate
(2048kbit/s).
