The parameters configured for each static route are the following:
Interface: Output interface for packets sent to the destination sub-net. Any router interface
(WAN1, WAN2 or Ethernet) can be chosen. The interface should be active.
DLCI: Valid only for WAN2 with Frame Relay. Identifies the virtual circuit used for a specified
route. DLCI 0 (zero) should be used for WAN2 configured as PPP and for other interfaces.
Sub-Net Address / Mask: Address of the destination sub-net. IP masking should identify the
destination net univocally.
Gateway: Equipment connected to the interface that knows the following steps (hops) in order to
reach the destination net. The host is connected to the router via the specified interface.
Hops: Steps to reach the destination sub-net. It serves as a meter for the router to decide which
route to use; dynamically learnt routes require a minimum of 2 hops, allowing for the definition of higher-
priority static routes (1 hop).
A new field for route insertion is opened when selecting (A)dd. The router allows up to 10 static routes to
be configured by the user.
Options (E)dit and (D)elete require selection of the route to be edited or deleted; this is made with up and
down arrows.
