Removing the processor

Prerequisites
1. Remove the stability foot.
2. Remove the left and right side-panels. See “
Removing the side panels”.
3. Remove the processor liquid-cooling assembly fan.
Procedure
WARNING: The processor might still be hot after the computer is shut down. Allow the processor to cool down before
removing it.
1. In the order as indicated on the processor shield (3,2,1), loosen the captive screws that secure the processor shield to the system
board.
2. Open the processor shield.
3. Press down and push the left-release lever and right-release lever away from the processor cover to release it from the securing
tab.
4. Slide the processor cover off the processor slot
CAUTION: When removing the processor, do not touch any of the pins inside the socket or allow any objects to fall on
the pins in the socket.
