EXHAUST SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION - EXPORT
The exhaust system on this model is equipped with
vacuum-operated Diverter Valves, an Auxiliary Reso-
nator, and the associated piping. The auxiliary com-
ponents are used to modify the exhaust flow during
certain driving conditions. The Diverter Valves are
controlled by vacuum and actuated by the Exhaust
Solenoid.
OPERATION - EXPORT
During certain driving conditions, the vehicles
exhaust flow will be diverted away from the side
exits, and redirected to the Auxiliary Resonator at
the rear of the vehicle. During the activation mode,
the butterfly valves in the Exhaust Diverter Valves
are closed. The BCM monitors engine speed, engine
rpm, and manifold pressure and uses these inputs to
activate or deactivate the Exhaust Diverter Valves.
The BCM controls the Exhaust Solenoid Relay, which
when energized will activate the Exhaust Solenoid.
The Exhaust Solenoid then uses engine vacuum to
activate the Exhaust Diverter Valves. The Diverter
