2. ERRORS AND CAUSES
2-1. When Paper Jams Occur
The first line of the LCD on the control panel displays “PAPER JAM”. The second line displays “Feed” (paper feed
section), “Conveyance” (conveyance section), “Eject” (paper ejection section), or “Turn” (reversal section) according to
where the paper has jammed. Turning the jog dial displays the jam code on the next screen. Refer to the following table.
If messages are displayed for the downstream processing unit, refer to the manual for the downstream processing
unit.

NOTE : The following causes may be suspected if jam codes are displayed even though no paper jam has actually
occurred. Sensors and switches can be checked if they are detecting properly in the sensor check mode of the
maintenance menu.
Paper bits, foreign objects, etc. are clogged between light-emitting section and light-receiving section of a
sensor or on a switch
Actuator or lever of a switch does not return
A sensor or a switch is faulty
The connection between a sensor or a switch and MC unit is faulty
The MC unit is faulty
