DisassemblyProcedures
The cable connectors come in thesetwo basic types:
Pressureplate connectors
Normal pin connectors
To remove a pressureplate connector, pull up the tabson either side of the connector's
plastic pressureplate and gently pull the cableout of the connector. To reconnectthe cableto
the pressureplate's connector, raise the pressureplate up to a satisfactory height and slide the
cable into the connector. Securethe cable in the correct position by pressing down the sides
of the pressureplate sothat the plate is flush with the sidesof the connector. Grasp and pull
the cable gently to check that the cable is connectedfirmly. If the cable comesoff the
connector, reinsert the cable by raising the pressureplate up to a satisfactory height.
Normal pin connectors are usedfor all the other types of cables. Theseconnectors can be
installed or removedby simply inserting them or pulling them out.
AssemblyProcedures
You have to reassemblethe computer after you have disassembledthe computer and fixed
the component that causedthe problem.
When reassemblingthe computer, keepthe following generalguidelines in mind:
Take your time to carry out the suggestedinstructions completely. Hurried
reassembly can often causeproblems.
Check that all the cable andconnectors arefastenedsecurely.
Before securing the FRUs or other parts, check that the cablesare not caught by the
screws or FRUs.
Check that all the latches are closed securely.
Check that all the required screws are usedto securethe FRUs. Using wrong screws
can damagethe threads or headsof the screws or doesnot ensure that the FRUs are
secure.
After installing a FRU, makesurethat the FRU andcomputerwork normally.
