4.1 General
This chapter explains how to disassemblethe computer and replace Field Replaceable
Units (FRUs). Somereplacementproceduresmay not require you to remove all the
surrounding FRUs to replace only oneFRU. The chart below showsthe FRUs in the order in
which they should beremovedin a top-down manner, irrespective of their physical locations.
The FRUs shown in the top areaof the chart should normally be removed before removing
the FRUsshown in the bottom area.To replacethe FRUs, first identify the suspectFRU for
the systemfailure. Next, according to this chart, determine the FRUs that needto be removed
before removing the suspectFRU. After you determine thoseFRUs, go to the appropriate
sections according to the section numbers shown in the boxes. Then start removal and
replacement.
How to usethe chart (two
examples):
• For removing the SystemBoard:
First, remove BaseEnclosure,
Battery Pack and display
assembly. Then, remove HDD,
SSD, Smart Card Board, DC IN
harness,andwireless LAN card,
all of which areshown abovethe
System Board.
• For removing the LCD Module:
First, remove the display mask,
both of which are shown abovethe
LCD module.
