6.6.2 SNMPSettings
 Click on the SNMP  Settings link under the Management menu. This option
allowsyoutoassignthecontactdetails,location,andcommunitynameandtrap
settings for SNMP. This is a networking management protocol used to monitor
network‐attacheddevices.SNMPallowsmessages (calledprotocoldataunits)to
be sent
 to various parts of a network. Upon receiving these messages, SNMP‐
compatible devices (called agents) return data stored in their Management
InformationBases..


 SNMPEnable/Disable:ChoosetoenableordisabletheSNMPfeature.
 Contact:Specifythecontactdetailsofthedevice.
 Location:Specifythelocationofthedevice.
 Read‐Only Community Name: Specify the password for access the SNMP
communityforreadonlyaccess.
 Read
‐Write Community Name: Specify the password for access to the SNMP
communitywithread/writeaccess.
 Send SNMP Trap: Specify the IP address of the computer that will receive the
SNMPtraps.
 TrapCommunityName:SpecifythepasswordfortheSNMPtrapcommunity.
 ClickontheApply
buttontosavethechanges.



 Click on the Backup/Restore Setting link under the Management menu. This
optionisusedtosavethecurrentsettingsofthedeviceinafileonyourlocaldisk
orloadsettingsontothedevicefromalocaldisk.Thisfeatureisveryhandyfor
administrators who have several
 devices that need to be configured with the
samesettings.

