EGR / Swirl
Description
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is a system that allows the exhaust gases to be recirculated back into
the intake manifold. This process leads to a significant reduction in NOx emissions because it reduces
the two elements underlying its production: oxygen in excess and combustion temperature.
Swirl flaps produce a swirl alongside the cylinder axle. They are used in diesel vehicles to improve the
mixing of the fuel-air mixture at low engine speeds.
