System Time
Description
This view shows the system time. The original radio/navigation unit is the master of the clock in the
vehicle but the BCM has also a real-time clock. Every time the car is turned on the Radio is
synchronizing its clock with the BCM. If the radio is removed and replaced with aftersales stereo the
BCM can maintain the current time, but only until the battery voltage is removed, then the clock will
become “Invalid” (marked with “I” by eSID) until the time is synchronized.
System clock is used by the Time for Service function and the Timer controlled Auxiliary Heater (in
the cluster)
