Obtainingafloorplanhelpstheinstallerdeterminewhatcomponentsneedtobe
installed,andwhere.Italsoisessentialindeterminingthelengthofcableneededto
connectreaderstothecontroller.Afloorplancanbeablueprintofthebuilding,a
design,orsimplyadrawingofthefacility.Anydocumentshowingthefootprintofthe
buildingcanbeused.Thedimensionsareimportanttonote,especiallywhen
determiningcablelengths.Afloorplanmaybeobtainedfromyourlocalcityhall.
2.1.2 Determine theHardwareandLocation
Determinewhichhardwaretouseandwhereitwillbeinstalled.Thisisthemostcrucial
stepinthepreparationstage.First,determinehowmanyaccesspoints,ordoors,needto
bemanagedbytheaccesscontrolsystem.Theseaccesspointswillcontrolthesecurityof
thefacility,andcanlimittheentryandexittoandfromanygivenareaofthebuilding.
Afterdecidingwhichdoorsneedtobecontrolled,theusermustalsodeterminethelevel
ofsecurityneededateachdoor.Therearemanywaystomanageeachdoor,using
differentresources.Theseresourcesinclude,butarenotlimitedto:proximityreaders,
magstripreaders,relays,andrequesttoexits.Afewcommondoorconfigurationsare
describedbelow:
OneSetofNAVController+OneReaderTheBasicDoorEntryControl
ThemostbasicconfigurationinvolvesoneNAVcontroller,areaderandanelectricstrike.In
thisconfiguration,apersonpresentsacardtothereader,andiseithergrantedordenied
access.Theelectricstrikeunlocksifthesystemgrantsaccess.Anothervariationofthis
scenarioinvolvessettingthesystemuptomonitorwhetherthedoorisopen,whichallows
thesystemtoprotectagainstproppedopendoors,ordoorsbeingheldopenfortoolong.
OneSetofNAVController+OneReader+OneDoorOpenButtonControlofExit
Addingadooropenbuttontotheabovescenarioallowsthesystemtocontrolwhento
allowpeopletoexitthroughadoor.Thedooropenbuttonequipmentincludesabutton
whichhasto
bepressedwhenacardholderexits,oradoorsensor.Theequipmentshould
bearrangedonthesecuresideofthedoor.
