Chapter 1: Introduction to the FaroArm

• What happens if I go out of range and lose my connection? What
happens if I turn off the FaroArm while it is connected using the
FARO Wireless connection?
Once the FaroArm driver detects that the FaroArm is no longer
connected, after about 10 seconds, a message appears asking if
you want to restore the FARO Wireless connection. If you click
No, the connection stops. If you click Yes, attempts are made to
restore the connection.
• Why do I continue to see the message asking if I want to continue to
use the FARO Wireless connection?
Either the FaroArm has lost power, or it is out of the 30 feet or 10
meters wireless range. After correcting the problem, click Yes to
restore the connection.
FARO i-Probe FAQ
• Can I use an i-Probe on anything other than a Quantum series
FaroArm?
No. Installing the i-Probe to anything other than a Quantum
series FaroArm damages the i-Probe.
• Can I still use my old probes on a Quantum series FaroArm?
Yes. However you must clear the U
SE I-PROBE check box in the
P
ROBE dialog box. For more information, see “Probes” on
page 77.
• I have an i-Probe attached but see this error dialog box and can not
measure. What is wrong?
Calibrate the i-Probe. For more information, see “Calibrate
Probe” on page 79.
