a. Noise floor is defined as the RMS value of the trace (in linear format) for a trans-
mission measurement in CW Frequency mode, with the RF connectors termi-
nated in loads, output power set to 0 dBm, and no averaging. The noise floor
specifications and typicals for narrowband detection measurements assume that
an isolation calibration has been performed using an average factor of 16. For
the HP 8712ES/8714ES, external broadband detectors will provide a lower noise
floor than the internal broadband detectors.
