â—¦ When the Continuous Access Journal pair status changes to HOLD after the delta resync
operation
â—¦ When you re-create the Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation when
recovering the primary site
When the pair recovery operation is performed on the suspended Continuous Access
Synchronous pair or Continuous Access Journal pair, allow the 3DC configuration to remain
status for at least 5 minutes before you execute any other continuous access-related commands.
If the delta resync operation to support remote command devices is performed, you can execute
the delta resync operation after the primary site is updated.
If any Continuous Access Journal pair in the journal group does not meet these requirements, an
error occurs and the delta resync operation fails.
In the following cases, the delta resync operation will not be performed because the required
journal data does not exist:
• When, after creating the Continuous Access Journal pair, the primary data volume in the
Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation is updated but the Continuous
Access Journal primary data volumes (also used as Continuous Access Synchronous primary
data volumes) are not updated in the primary site.
• When the volumes in the primary site are updated after splitting a Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.
• When the secondary data volume is updated after splitting a Continuous Access Journal pair.
• When, after splitting a Continuous Access Journal pair and as a result of updating the primary
data volume, the capacity of the journal data exceeds 70% of the journal volume in the
Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site.
• When the primary data volume in the Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation
is updated and the capacity of the journal data exceeds 70% of the journal volume in the
primary site of a Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation.
• When, after creating the Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation, no volumes
(including volumes after failover or failback) in the primary site are updated.
• When the delta resync operation is performed, when the Continuous Access Journal pair and
Continuous Access Synchronous pair are in PAIR status, and within 5 minutes after a volume
in the primary site is updated after the Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation
is created.
If the delta resync operation to support remote command devices is performed, you can execute
the delta resync operation after the primary site is updated.
The following are also regarded as the case of creating the Continuous Access Journal pair
for delta resync operation:
â—¦ When the Continuous Access Journal pair status changes to HOLD after the delta resync
operation
â—¦ When you re-create the Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation when
recovering the primary site
• When the status of the Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync operation becomes
HLDE, the journal data required for the delta resync operation might be discarded. In this
case, you cannot copy only differential data by performing the delta resync operation, even
if the pair status changes from HLDE to HOLD. However, you can copy all primary volume
data to the secondary volume.
By specifying an option, you can copy all primary volume data to the secondary volume and avoid
the error when only a portion of the differential data between the primary and secondary data
volumes is stored in the journal volume.
If you specify the option of the delta resync operation, and the following conditions exist, errors
occur and the delta resync operation fails:
