4.3 Responsibilities of the operator
The machine may only be used for the intended materials.
If the installation situation changes, the respective safety distances must be determined. The
place of installation of the system must be sufficiently illuminated to ensure safe work.
It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that the machine is operated only in a techni-
cally sound condition, that it complies with the relevant safety regulations and that the operat-
ing and maintenance measures specified in the operating instructions are met. This operating
manual is part of the machine. It must be kept accessible to the staff in the immediate vicinity
of the machine at all times.
For the respective installation situation an internal operating instruction must be created by
the operator.
Only trained and instructed staff over the age of 18 may operate the machine. Persons as-
signed to work on the compactor must have read and understood the operating instructions
and, in particular, the safety instructions, and be in proper mental and physical condition.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in danger to life and / or damage to the machine
or other property.
The persons responsible for the operation of the portable compactor must be instructed ac-
cordingly. The instruction must be repeated at least once a year and documented accordingly.
After instruction, staff at the machine has to be observed to ensure a safe operation. If neces-
sary, it must be trained again. A person who has successfully participated in a training must
be recorded in an "Instructed persons" form.
