8.2 Installation on ramps, pedestals and working platforms
For ergonomic reasons, the use of pedestals may be useful. If the correct operation of the
portable compactor is not ensured, appropriate ramps, working platforms or platforms with
railings of at least 1100 mm must be erected on both sides. The pedestals and working
platforms are to be built according to DIN and set up. A pedestal is only allowed on the front
side of the machine. The owner / operator of the machine must ensure the railing and / or
protective grids on the loading bays and working platforms.
The additional equipment of a loading bay operation is optionally available in other cases (see
chapter 10.4.1, Ramp operation with a centrally divided lid). The ramp has to ensure the safe-
ty measures against falling down of persons. A proper operation from a ramp must be possi-
ble. If it is not possible to operate the installed EMERGENCY STOP button from the ramp
according to DIN, a separate, additional EMERGENCY STOP button must be installed by
trained specialist staff. The machine must comply with the VDE 0100/0113 regulation!
For installation on loading bays it is recommended to use guide plates. This avoids bumping
and damages to buildings and to the portable compactor.
