8.1 Installation site
The compactor may only be operated on a suitable, stable and level surface. With an inclina-
tion of > 5 °, the compactor may only be operated with chocks or wheel chocks, which are to
be fixed to at least one roller. Pay attention to sufficient load capacity of the installation areas.
In view of the circumstances on site, mounting options, anchorages, foundations or even vi-
bration damping must be prepared in advance. Secure the portable compactor against unex-
pected rolling away.
The required space must be determined and provided for the machine prematurely. If the ma-
chine is set up at a different location, the respective new installation position and the safety
distance must be redetermined. The basis for this is the provisions against the reaching of
hazardous areas such as e.g. specified by the employers’ liability insurance associations or in
DIN EN ISO 13857.
The location of the portable compactor should be adequately illuminated.
The dimensions required for the safe operation of the machine, including the inclusion of suf-
ficient space for opening doors and covers, as well as for carrying out other operations, e.g.
shut-off with an additional distance of at least 500 mm.
For necessary maintenance, sufficient space must be created around the portable compactor.
If the compactor or other machines are installed at places where materials are handled that can
pollute the water, care has to be taken that in case of leakages contamination of earth or water
is absolutely excluded. The installation should be carried out on firm ground with sufficient
distance from the draining system.
At the place of installation there must be sufficient space for transport by means of skip load-
ers, hook loaders or slipping skippers. Also note the maximum permissible speed of 6 km/h
when manoeuvering the portable compactor.
Observe the corresponding DIN EN ISO 14122
parts 1 to 4 during assembly and installation!
