6.1 Foreseeable misuse
Waste that is subject to special provisions in accordance with the local waste laws or that is
specially marked in the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) must not be compacted. Depend-
ing on the place of installation and the country, the deviating laws must be taken into account.
Since other countries have other binding accident prevention regulations, these have to be
applied on site.
Other materials that must not be compacted are, for example: steel parts, demolition waste
and sludges. In addition, local safety and disposal regulations must be observed. The portable
compactor must not be installed in potentially explosive areas.
Foreseeable misuse:
• filling of unsuitable materials
• temporarily unattended operation, including on sites with public access
• working, operation and maintenance by persons without instruction
• disregard of safety instructions by the staff
• removal or manipulation of safety devices or safety switching devices
• maintenance and repair work carried out by unauthorized staff
• use of wear and spare parts not approved by Husmann
