Connecting the SRX4100 Services Gateway to a Management Console
Use the CONSOLE port on the services gateway to connect to a management console.
The CONSOLE port accepts a cable that has an RJ-45 connector.
To connect the services gateway to a management console:
1. Attach an electrostatic discharge(ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect
the strap to the ESD point on the chassis.
2. Connect the RJ-45 end of the DB9-to-RJ-45 cable into the CONSOLE port on your
services gateway.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to the serial port on the management device.
4. Start your asynchronous terminal emulation application (such as Microsoft Windows
HyperTerminal) and select the appropriate COM port to use (for example, COM1).
5. Configure the serial port settings:
Baud rate—9600
Parity—N
Data bits—8
Stop bits—1
Flow control—none
