Further information and technical data on the use of common mode lters
can be found in the Mounting instruction Common Mode Filter CMR (ID no.:

4.2.5 Use of common mode filters
If the axis controllers are supplied by the PSU, situations may occur which render the
mains input lter ineffective. The use of a common-mode lter in the DC link supply of
the axis controllers is an effective remedy here.
Recommendation:
The common mode choke should be used if
a. There are more than 3-4 DC axis controllers in the network
or
b. the motor cable lengths per axis controller are greater than 10m or in total of
all axes be more than 30m.
NOTE:
Typical servo cables have approx. 0.47nF/m, corresponds to a permissible
total leakage capacitance of approx. 15nF.
Note that values of 1nF/m or more can easily be achieved with cables with
larger cross-sections (> 35 mm
2
).

or
c. In which users use special motors that have a higher parasitic capacitance to
earth.
Typical servomotors have approximately 10nF.
or
d. the total leakage capacitance is > 45nF
