01/FORK, TRIPLE CLAMP 25

Push the outer tube upward.
Clamp the fork in the area of the lower triple clamp.
Clamping stand (T1403S) ( p. 219)
Grease the O-ring of the screw cover.
Lubricant (T511) ( p. 206)
Screw on and tighten the screw cover.

Screw cover on outer tube M51x1.5 50 Nm

Turn the adjusting screw of rebound damping  and the adjusting screw of
compression damping  clockwise as far as possible.
Turn back counterclockwise by the number of clicks corresponding to the fork
leg type.

Only make adjustments within the recommended range.

Turn the adjusting screws to the position they were in before dismantling.
5.13Checking the steering head bearing play

Adjust the steering head bearing play without delay.

If the bike is driven for a longer time with play in the steering head bearing, the bearing and the bearing seats in the frame can
be damaged after time.
Raise the motorcycle and secure it against falling over.
The front wheel is no longer in contact with the ground and the fork legs are no
longer under tension.
