Blade Collar
To
remove collar from crankshaft, use
a
soft
hammer
or
mallet and strike collar in direction of
blade rotation.
If
rust has adhered collar to crankshaft apply
penetrating oil before attempting to remove
collar.
In severe cases use a universal puller to remove
blade collar assembly.
A
bent
or
damaged collar will create a rough,
uneven cut and cause excessive vibration.
Replace.
Blade Brake Clutch (BBC) Models:
A
SAFETY WARNING: Wear gloves or
wrap sharp edges of the blade with a
rag.
Use
a
9/16"
closed end wrench or a
socket and breaker bar to remove or tighten
the
blade screws. Open end, adjustable
wrenches or ratchet drives should not be
used since they might slip causing injury.

Remove the blade screws, turn counter-
clockwise. Remove the blade.
A
SAFETY WARNING: The blade
screws must be replaced after being
removed and reinstalled

times. The lock-
ing feature of the screws will have de-
creased and the blade could loosen
if
re-
placement
is
not made.
NOTE:
OIL
INJECTION MODELS; To pre-
vent possible powerhead damage resulting
from
air
entering oil line during servicing; we
recommend draining fuel tank and running
mower using
a
64:
1
fuel/oil pre-mix until no
air
bubbles are observed in oil lines. Minimum
20
minutes.
