IGNITION TROUBLESHOOTING
Electric Start Model M21EMR
NO SPARK
FOR ALL TESTS
Have Lawn-Boy Test Plug, Part No. 426814 installed
Mower setting on level surface
Grass catcher installed and fully seated at chute interlock switch
Oil level above Add Line of reservoir
Hold blade control bail engaged
Check
for spark

SPARK
System ok
NO SPARK
Disconnect yellow wires at brake
NOTE: Wires must not be grounded
during test.
Check for spark

switch lower terminal

SPARK NO SPARK
Repair/Replace brake switch
Reconnect yellow wires at brake
NOTE: Look for moisture or debris on switch terminal
switch. Clean and blow dry.
Disconnect chute interlock switch
Check
for spark

NO SPARK
NOTE: Stainless steel mounting screws
Disconnect oil level switch
must be used.
Check for spark
Replace chute interlock switch Reconnect chute interlock switch
SPARK NO SPARK
Replace oil level switch Reconnect oil level switch
Chek/Clean ground terminal at CD
Ignition Module
or governor bracket
screw
Check high tension lead
Check

Inspect wiring harness for pinched, shorted or Replace CD Ignition Module
