INTERLOCK SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
Blade Brake Clutch (BBC) Model M21 BMR
Tests A and B must be correct for proper operation.
Engine continues
to run when blade is engaged and grass catcher is removed. (Engine
stops by moving throttle to
STOP position.)
Check that BBC Interlock and Chute interlock Switches are properly connected.
STOPS RUNS
System ok
A
SAFETY WARNING: Stop engine
by moving throttle to STOP
position.
With engine stopped, disconnect BBC
Interlock Switch from wiring harness
and check continuity of switch
With Blade Control Bail engaged, BBC
interlock Switch should be CLOSED,
continuity
If OPEN Check BBC cable adjust-
ment. Replace BBC Interlock Switch.
Reconnect BBC Interlock Switch

STOPS
System ok

SAFETY WARNING: Stop engine
by moving throttle
to STOP
position.
With engine stopped, disconnect
Chute interlock Switch from wiring
harness
and check continuity of switch
With continuity meter attached, put
grass catcher on and
off mower
Switch should be OPEN no continuity,
when grass catcher is on mower and
CLOSED, continuity when grass
catcher is
off mower
grass catcher movement, check
presence of magnet in housing
If missing, replace magnet.
If present, replace Chute Interlock
Switch
Retest new switch for continuity
if no change in continuity occurs with
J
OPEN/CLOSE I
System ok If no change in continuity occurs with
grass catcher movement replace
magnet
Retest for continuity
Retest engine stopping
