To
apply correct spring tension, rotate
starter pulley in a counterclockwise direction
until pulley cannot be rotated any futher.
Slowly
release starter pulley until hole for
starter rope in pulley aligns with hole in starter
housing (approximately
3/4
turn).
Tie a knot
in
one end of starter rope. Insert rope
through hole in starter pulley and then through
hole in starter housing.
Hold starter rope taut, release starter pulley
slowly, allowing rope
to
wind onto pulley.
NOTE:
On zone start models entire length
of
starter rope will not retract inside starter hous-
ing.
NOTE:
On
BBC
models tie
a
loop
knot in end
of
starter rope to prevent accidental rewinding
into starter housing.
Pull
starter
rope
and check for any binding
sounds and observe for outward movement
of
starter pawls. The starter pawls should rotate
outward as the rope
is
pulled and retract when
rope is released.
