•Makesurethatyouhaveallthecablesandotherequipmentthatisspecifiedinthedocumentationthat
comeswiththedrive.
•Checktheinstructionsthatcomewiththedrivetoseewhetheryouhavetosetanyswitchesorjumpers
onthedrive.IfyouareinstallingaSASorSATAdevice,besuretosettheSASorSATAIDforthatdevice.
•OptionalexternaltapedrivesandDVD-ROMdrivesareexamplesofremovable-mediadrives.Youcan
installremovable-mediadrivesonlyinbays1and2onmodelswitheight3.5-inch,eight,sixteen,
twenty-four,andthirty-two2.5-inchharddiskdrives.
•Theelectromagneticinterference(EMI)integrityandcoolingoftheserverareprotectedbyhavingallbays
andPCIslotscoveredoroccupied.WhenyouinstalladriveorPCIadapter,savetheEMCshieldandfiller
panelfromthebayorthePCIadapterslotcoverintheeventthatyoulaterremovethedriveoradapter.
