Usethisinformationtoinstalla2.5-inchhot-swapharddiskdrive.
Thefollowingnotesdescribethetypesofharddiskdrivesthattheserversupportsandotherinformationthat
youmustconsiderwhenyouinstallaharddiskdrive:
•Dependingonthemodel,theserversupportsuptoeightoruptothirty-two2.5-inchSAS/SATAhot-swap
harddiskdrivesinthehot-swapbays.
Note:WhenusingServeRAIDadapterM1015tosupportmorethansixteen2.5-inchharddiskdrives,the
maximumnumberofRAIDsupporteddrivesis16.AlltheotherdriveswillremainJBOD(thedrivesare
presentedtotheoperatingsystemwithoutaRAIDconfiguration).
•Foralistofsupportedoptionaldevicesfortheserver,seehttp://www.lenovo.com/serverproven/.
•Inspectthedriveanddrivebayforsignsofdamage.
•Makesurethatthedriveiscorrectlyinstalledinthedrivebay.
•SeethedocumentationfortheServeRAIDadapterforinstructionsforinstallingaharddiskdrive.
•Allhot-swapdrivesintheservermusthavethesamethroughputspeedrating;usingdriveswithdifferent
speedratingsmightcausealldrivestooperateatthespeedoftheslowestdrive.
•Youdonothavetoturnofftheservertoinstallhot-swapdrivesinthehot-swapdrivebays.However,you
mustturnofftheserverwhenyouperformanystepsthatinvolveinstallingorremovingcables.
