Usethisinformationtoremoveaheatsinkretentionmodule.
Readthesafetyinformationin“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”onpage35.
Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toremoveaheatsinkretentionmodule,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Carefullyturntheserveronitssidesothatitislyingflat,withthecoverfacingup.
Attention:Donotallowtheservertofallover.
Step2.Unlockandremovetheleft-sidecover(see“Removingtheleft-sidecover”onpage184).
Step3.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage189).
Step4.Removetheheatsink(see“Removingamicroprocessorandheatsink”onpage283).
Note:Whenyouremoveamicroprocessorandheatsink,besuretokeepeachheatsinkwith
itsmicroprocessorforreinstallation.
Step5.Useascrewdriverandremovethefourscrewsthatsecuretheretentionmoduletothesystem
board;then,lifttheretentionmodulefromthesystemboard.
