Step1.Boottheservertoanoperatingsystemthatissupportedbythefirmwareupdatepackagethat
youdownloaded.
Step2.Performthefirmwareupdatebyfollowingtheinstructionsthatareinthefirmwareupdatepackage
readmefile.
Step3.Restarttheserver.
Step4.Atthefirmwaresplashscreen,pressF3whenpromptedtorestoretotheprimarybank.The
serverbootsfromtheprimarybank.
Out-of-bandmethod
Usethisinformationtorecovertheserverfirmwareandrestoretheserveroperationtotheprimarybank.

Automatedbootrecovery(ABR)
Whiletheserverisstarting,iftheintegratedmanagementmoduleIIdetectsproblemswiththeserver
firmwareintheprimarybank,theserverautomaticallyswitchestothebackupfirmwarebankandgivesyou
theopportunitytorecoverthefirmwareintheprimarybank.

onpage92.Afteryouhaverecoveredthefirmwareintheprimarybank,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Restarttheserver.
Step2.WhenthepromptPressF3torestoretoprimaryisdisplayed,pressF3tostarttheserverfrom
theprimarybank.
Nx-bootfailure
Configurationchanges,suchasaddeddevicesoradapterfirmwareupdates,andfirmwareorapplication
codeproblemscancausetheservertofailPOST(thepower-onself-test).
Ifthisoccurs,theserverrespondsineitherofthefollowingways:
•TheserverrestartsautomaticallyandattemptsPOSTagain.
•Theserverstopsresponding,andyoumustmanuallyrestarttheserverfortheservertoattemptPOST
again.
Afteraspecifiednumberofconsecutiveattempts(automaticormanual),theNx-bootfailurefeaturecauses
theservertoreverttothedefaultUEFIconfigurationandstarttheSetuputilitysothatyoucanmakethe
necessarycorrectionstotheconfigurationandrestarttheserver.Iftheserverisunabletosuccessfully
completePOSTwiththedefaultconfiguration,theremightbeaproblemwiththesystemboard.
