•Whenreplacingthesystembattery,youmustreplaceitwithalithiumbatteryofthesametypefrom
thesamemanufacturer.
•Toorderreplacementbatteries,call1-800-426-7378withintheUnitedStates,and1-800-465-7999or
1-800-465-6666withinCanada.OutsidetheU.S.andCanada,contactyourLenovosalesrepresentative
orLenovoreseller.
•Afteryoureplacethesystem-boardbattery,youmustreconfiguretheserverandresetthesystemdate
andtime.
•Toavoidpossibledanger,readandfollowthefollowingsafetystatement.

Whenreplacingthelithiumbattery,useonlyPartNumber33F8354oranequivalenttypebattery
recommendedbythemanufacturer.Ifyoursystemhasamodulecontainingalithiumbattery,replace
itonlywiththesamemoduletypemadebythesamemanufacturer.Thebatterycontainslithiumand
canexplodeifnotproperlyused,handled,ordisposedof.
Donot:
•Throworimmerseintowater
•Heattomorethan100°C(212°F)
•Repairordisassemble
Disposeofthebatteryasrequiredbylocalordinancesorregulations.
Toinstallthereplacementsystembattery,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Followanyspecialhandlingandinstallationinstructionsthatcomewiththereplacementbattery.
Step2.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”on
page116.
Step3.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables,
ifnecessary.
Step4.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage119).
Step5.Ifnecessary,liftPCIriser-cardassembly1orthe2.5-inchhot-swaprearharddiskdrivekitoutof
thechassis(see“RemovingaPCIriser-cardassembly”onpage169or“Removingthe2.5-inch
hot-swaprearharddiskdrivekit”onpage140
).
Step6.Locatethesystembatteryconnectoronthesystemboard.
