UsingtheBootManager
TheBootManagerprogramisabuilt-in,menu-drivenconfigurationutilityprogramthatyoucanuseto
temporarilyredefinethefirststartupdevicewithoutchangingsettingsintheSetuputility.
TousetheBootManagerprogram,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Turnofftheserver.
Step2.Restarttheserver.
Step3.Whentheprompt<F12>SelectBootDeviceisdisplayed,pressF12.
Step4.UsetheUparrowandDownarrowkeystoselectanitemfromthemenuandpressEnter.
Thenexttimetheserverstarts,itreturnstothestartupsequencethatissetintheSetuputility.
Startingthebackupserverfirmware
Thesystemboardcontainsabackupcopyareafortheserverfirmware.Thisisasecondarycopyofthe
serverfirmwarethatyouupdateonlyduringtheprocessofupdatingtheserverfirmware.Iftheprimarycopy
oftheserverfirmwarebecomesdamaged,usethisbackupcopy.
Toforcetheservertostartfromthebackupcopy,turnofftheserver;then,placetheUEFIbootbackup
jumper(JP13)inthebackupposition(pins2and3).See“System-boardswitches,jumpers,andbuttons”
onpage27forthelocationoftheUEFIbootbackupjumper(JP13).
Usethebackupcopyoftheserverfirmwareuntiltheprimarycopyisrestored.Aftertheprimarycopyis
restored,turnofftheserver;then,movetheUEFIbootbackupjumper(JP13)backtotheprimaryposition
(pins1and2).
TheUpdateXpressSystemPackInstaller
TheUpdateXpressSystemPackInstallerdetectssupportedandinstalleddevicedriversandfirmwareinthe
serverandinstallsavailableupdates.

Usingtheintegratedmanagementmodule
Theintegratedmanagementmodule(IMM)isasecondgenerationofthefunctionsthatwereformerly
providedbythebaseboardmanagementcontrollerhardware.Itcombinesserviceprocessorfunctions,video
controller,andremotepresencefunctioninasinglechip.
TheIMMsupportsthefollowingbasicsystems-managementfeatures:
•ActiveEnergyManager.
•Alerts(in-bandandout-of-bandalerting,PETtraps-IPMIstyle,SNMP,e-mail).
•AutoBootFailureRecovery(ABR).
•Automaticmicroprocessordisableonfailureandrestartinatwo-microprocessorconfigurationwhenone
microprocessorsignalsaninternalerror.Whenoneofthemicroprocessorsfail,theserverwilldisablethe
failingmicroprocessorandrestartwiththeothermicroprocessor.
