IfyouareinstructedtoreturntheRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodule,followallpackaging
instructions,anduseanypackagingmaterialsforshippingthataresuppliedtoyou.
ReplacingaRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodule
UsethisinformationtoreplaceaRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodule.
WhenyouinstallanyRAIDadapterthatcomeswithbatteriesorflashpowermodules,itissometimes
necessarytoinstallthebatteriesorflashpowermodulesinanotherlocationintheservertopreventthe
batteriesorflashpowermodulesfromoverheating.Dependingonyourservermodel,abatteryorflash
powermodulemustbeinstalledremotelyneartheopticaldrivecageorthebackplane.
ToinstallaRAIDadapterbatteryintheserver,completethefollowingsteps:
Note:The2.5-inchharddiskdriveservermodelsupportsuptotwoRAIDadapterbatteriesorflash
powermodules,whilethe3.5-inchharddiskdriveservermodelsupportsonlyoneRAIDadapterbattery
orflashpowermodule.

Step2.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectallpowercordsandexternaldevices.
Step3.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage119).
Step4.InstalltheServeRAIDadapteronthesystemboard(see“ReplacingaServeRAIDSAS/SATA
controller”onpage185)orinstalltheServeRAIDadapterontherisercardandinstalltheriser-card
