Usethisinformationtoreplaceathermalkit(hot-swapfan)
Theservercomesstandardwithfiveorsixdual-motorhot-swapcoolingfans.Whenthereisone
microprocessorinstalled,installfan1,2,3,5,and7for3.5-inch-driveservermodel,andinstallfan1,
2,3,4,5,and7for2.5-inch-driveservermodel.
Attention:Toensureproperoperation,replaceafailedhot-swapfanwithin30seconds.
Toreplaceahot-swapfan,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”on
page116
.
Step2.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage119).
Step3.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthenewfantoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver.Then,removethenewfanfromthepackage.
Step4.Orientthefanoverthefanslotinthefanassemblybracketsothatthefanconnectoralignswith
theconnectoronthesystemboard.
