Thepurposeoftheparkingaidistoassistthe
driverinreversing!Thesensorsmaynotbe
abletodetectobstaclesofcertaintype,e.g.
narrowpostsorsmallobjectsnomorethan
afewincheswide,smallobjectsclosetothe
ground,objectsabovethetailgateandsome
objectswithnon-reectivesurfaces.
Keepthesensorsfreefromdirt,iceandsnow.
Ifdepositsbuilduponthesurfaceofthe
sensors,theirperformancemaybeimpaired.
Whenwashingthecar,avoidaiminghigh
pressurewaterjetsdirectlyatthesensors
fromcloserange.
RearParkingAid
Theultrasonicsensorsintherearbumpermonitorthearea
behindthevehicletosearchforobstacles.Ifanyobstacle
isdetected,thesystemwillcalculateitsdistancefromthe
rearofthevehicleandcommunicatesthemessagetothe
driverbysoundingwarningchimes.
ParkingAidinOperation
WhentheST ART/STOPSwitchisintheON/READY
position,therearparkingaidisenabledautomatically
whenreversegearisselected,itisswitchedoffassoonas
reversegearisdisengaged.Ashortbeepisgivenbythe
parkingaidwithin1secondafterselectingreversegearto
indicatethatthesystemisoperatingnormally.
Note:Ifalonger,higherpitchedsoundisemittedfor
3secondswhenreversegearisselectedthisindicates
afaultinthesystem.Inthiscaseseekassistancefrom
yourMGAuthorisedRepairer.
Withtheparkingaidenabled,whenobstaclesaredetected,
thesystemwillgivesoundsindifferentfrequencies(there
mightbeblindareas).
