1.1 Description Of M9 / M11 Sterilizers
A. General Description.
The M9 / M11 Sterilizers are to be used in medical and
dental offices, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, labora-
tories, and other facilities to sterilize heat and moisture
stable reusable items (including dental handpieces) that
are compatible with steam sterilization at 250°- 275°F
(121°- 135°C). Follow state and federal guidelines for
sterilization of single use devices.
Serviceable Components (See Figure 1-1 & 1-2).
Door Opening Motor Assy. (M9 & M11 Models Only)
The Door Opening Motor Assembly automatically opens
the door after the chamber has vented. It consists of a
synchronous motor and a Normally Closed
switch con-
nected to the Main P.C. Board thru a wire harness.
• When the cam on the motor shaft is in contact with the
switch, the contacts on the switch are Opened
.
• Initial power to the motor is provide from the P.C.
board, by-passing the switch, for a period of 12 to 30
seconds (dependent on the motor). The motor shaft and
linkage rotate, opening the door.
• When the cam is not contacting (operating) the switch
the contacts are Closed
. Power continues to be sup-
plied to the motor thru the closed switch.
• When the cam contacts the stop on the motor mount-
ing bracket the motor automatically reverses direction.
• When the cam once again contacts the switch, open-
ing its contacts, removing power to the motor, the motor
stops in its original position, awaiting the next operation.
• The purpose of the switch is to assure the motor and
cam always stop at the same position, ready for the next
operation.
Door Switch
The Door Switch monitors position of door assembly. It
is a Normally Open
switch that closes when the door is
closed. It prevents Initiating a cycle unless the door is
closed.
Fan, Axial Flow
Thermostatically controlled fan for circulating air, in area
between chamber and inside of panels, to decrease
heat.
Fan Thermostat
Controls Off / On of Axial Flow Fan. Normally Open
,
bimetal, auto-reset, thermostat that automatically
closes contacts at 122°F (50°C) to 138°F (59°C) to
power Fan. Thermostat opens at 95°F (35°C) to 107°F
(41°C), removing power, stopping Fan.
