for your location. In the USA, this is the OSHA lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedure. More

is dangerous. Drive belts can pull in your body or clothing.
Remove power from the machine when you do work on the
mechanisms.
Stay out of the machine frame when you do a test on the machine.
Replace all covers before you put the machine into operation.

Pulley Requirements

Keep pulleys free of dirt, oil and other contamination.
Replace pulleys with groove damage.
Align pulleys and shafts.
Keep run-out in tolerance.
