Chapter 2 Basic Operation
Installing the counter weight for
adjusting the tension-bar weight (1)
Install the proper number of the counter weight depending
on the media type.
You can attach the counter weight up to 12 (Large : 2,
Small : 10) each for right and left.
• If the large / small two types of
counter weight (large (100g x
4 sheets) / small (50g x 20
sheets)) are attached, install a
counter weight in the following
manner.
• Check the tension of the
media and attach an
appropriate number of
weights.
Media condition Solution
Ruck is generated in the
media feeding direction.
The tension applied on the
media is too strong.
Remove the weight, and lighten
the tension bar.
The media skews at printing.
The media sags and the
machine cannot take it up
beautifully.
The tension applied on the
media is too weak.
Attach the weight, and make the
tension bar heavier.
The media floats on the
platen.
Counter weight
Do not remove the weight that
was originally attached.
Also, do not remove the
screws retaining the weight.
Number of counter weights you can attach
• The number of counter weights you can attach
differs depending on the outer diameter after
taking up the media.
• Instead of the torque limiter attached to the printer
take-up device, you can attach the motor direct-
connection unit supplied with the AMF kit.
In this case, the number of counter weights
attached to the tension bar differs.
• Do not attach more than the maximum number of
counter weights.
• Not to lose the unused counter weight, put it in the
storage box.
