Chapter 2 Basic Operation

(TEST PRINT/CLEANING)
,
and then press the key in LOCAL.
• The test pattern orientation screen will be displayed.

Press to select the test pattern
orientation (SCAN DIR./ FEED DIR.).
• The orientation selected here will be reflected on
when you will print next time.
• When performing test printing after having
changed the orientation from "SCAN DIR." to
"FEED DIR.", the line is fed to the position of the
first test printing.

Press the key.
• The NOZZLE RECOVERY setting screen will be
displayed.

Press to select NOZZLE
RECOVERY function ON/OFF.
• The orientation selected here will be reflected on
when you will print next time.
ON : Print the pattern of nozzles with recovered
nozzles by other nozzles, which have been
registered by the nozzle recovery of the
maintenance menu.
OFF : Print the pattern without Nozzle Recovery.

Press the key.
• Test printing starts.
• When the printing has been completed, the
screen returns to LOCAL.

Check the printed test pattern.
• When the result is normal, end the operation.
• When the result is abnormal, perform head
cleaning. ( P.2-17)
Head Cleaning
About head cleaning
Check the printed test pattern result and perform cleaning
depending on the status.
Select one from the three types below:
NORMAL : When any line is missing
SOFT : When only head wiping is needed (when
lines are bent)
HARD : When poor image quality cannot be
improved even by NORMAL or SOFT
cleaning
Perform head cleaning depending on
the test printing result
There are three types of head cleaning. Use one by
checking the test pattern.

Press the
(TEST PRINT/CLEANING)
key in LOCAL.
• CLEANING MENU will be displayed.

Press to select the cleaning
type.
• NORMAL : Select this if any line is missing.
• SOFT : When only head wiping is desirable.
(in case of bent lines)
• HARD : Select this if inferior printing cannot
be improved even by [NORMAL] or
[SOFT] cleaning.

Press the key.

Perform test printing again, and check the
result.
• Repeat the cleaning and the test printing until the
printing result becomes in normal.
• If no recovery nozzles are registered in “Nozzle
Recovery” in the maintenance menu ( P.4-13),
or if the test print setting is not set to “ON”
( P.4-14), the test print begins. Proceed to
step 6.

• When the image quality is not improved after the
head cleaning.
• Clean the wiper and ink cap. ( P.4-6)
• Wash the head nozzle. ( P.4-7)
