3.7 Moving the Stylus Position
If the stylus position is displaced from the measurement start position, the stylus needs to
be moved. This section describes how to move the stylus.
3.7.1 Moving in the X-axis direction
(1) Rotation or twist of the X-axis drive knob allows the stylus to move in the X-axis
direction.
Twist of the outer dial allows the stylus to move in the X-axis direction. The moving
direction and speed vary depending on the twist direction and amount.
Rotation of the inner dial allows the stylus to move to the X-axis direction. The
movement direction and speed vary depending on the rotation direction and speed,
respectively.
The positioning accuracy of the inner dial is of the order of 0.1 mm. If more accurate
positioning is required, use the uniaxial movement function of the analysis software to
move the stylus to the specified position. Because the inner dial drives the stylus with use
of the rotation of the dial, the stylus may not be moved when the speed does not reach the
minimum drive speed. In such a case, slightly increase the rotation speed.
(2) Movement can be performed through the analysis software.
Refer to the user’s manual of the analysis software for further information.
