3 How to...
Before using the system and capturing images, you should be familiar with all the features and capabilities of
the system.
3.1 Get started
CAUTION
Read the warnings and cautions before using your device.
If applicable, also read the country-specific warnings and cautions, see Country-specific
warnings and cautions on page20.
You must start and shut down the device each working day.
Note
The device automatically logs out and the touch screen goes dark when the device is NOT in use. Using the
touch screen activates the touch screen and lets you log in.
3.1.1 Switch on each day
The image server and scan head must be switched ON each day for the device to operate.
3.1.1.1 Switch on the image server
The review, admin and storage services run on the image server. You do NOT need to login to the image server
as the server only needs to be switched on.

Check that the power supply is switched on.

Switch on the image server.
Note
If it seems the image server is not working, check the monitor is switched on then confirm the image server is
switched on.
3.1.1.2 Switch on the scan head
CAUTION
Only use the fabric cover when the scan head is powered OFF. Remove the fabric cover
before operating the scan head.
You must start and shut down the scan head each working day.

Remove the scan head fabric cover.
2.
Check the image server is switched ON and fully started up before switching ON the scan head.
3.
Switch ON the scan head.

If the scan head has been shut down the status indicator will be OFF. Press the power switch
on the back of the scan head to the ON ( ) position. There will be a short delay while the
