What to do if the shutter does not release on Pentax K20D Digital Camera?
    • C
      Caitlyn PerezAug 22, 2025
If the shutter on your Pentax Digital Camera isn't releasing, it might be because the lens aperture ring setting is not in the correct position. Set the lens aperture ring to the s position or select [Permitted] in [36. Using aperture ring] in the [A Custom Setting] menu. The flash might be charging; wait until charging is finished. Another reason could be that there is no available space on the SD Memory Card. Insert an SD Memory Card with available space or delete unwanted images. Finally, the camera may be recording; wait until recording is finished.

If the Shake Reduction isn't working on your Pentax Digital Camera, first, ensure that the Shake Reduction function is turned on using the switch. If you're using a lens for which focal length information cannot be acquired, set the [Focal Length] on the [Input Focal Length] menu. • C
      Carlos GrahamAug 27, 2025
The flash on your Pentax Digital Camera might not be discharging because the Capture mode is set to B (Green) mode. Only C (Auto discharge) and D (Auto flash+Redeye reduct) are available for the Flash Mode when the Capture mode is B. The flash will not discharge when the subject is bright in these modes. In Capture modes other than B, only the flash mode that discharges every time the flash recharges is available. Try different Capture modes.

This can be remedied by taking the battery out and putting it back in again. When the mirror remains in the up position, take the battery out and put it back in again. Then, turn the power on. The mirror will retract. After the procedure is done, if the camera operates correctly, it does not require any repairs.

    • A
      Alexandra JohnsonNov 18, 2025
If the autofocus on your Pentax Digital Camera isn't working, it could be due to several reasons. The subject may be difficult to focus on if it has low contrast, dark colors, intricate designs, or is a rapidly moving object. Try locking focus on another object at the same distance, then aim at your target. You can also use manual focus. Another reason could be that the subject is not in the focusing area. Position the subject in the focus frame in the middle of the viewfinder. If the subject is outside the focusing area, aim the camera at the subject and lock the focus, then compose your picture.
