It is important to use a solid tripod when using shift for stitching in order to
ensure that the lens stays is exactly the same spot. It is also recommended to
set the exposure manually so that each image match exposure wise when
stitching them together.
Once ready, shift the XT Camera the desired amount horizontally and/or
vertically and take the first capture. Then make the next shift movement, take
the next capture, and so forth. It is important to have some degree of overlap
between each capture for Photoshop to stitch the images correctly, but 2
captures horizontally and 2 captures vertically (4 in all) should be sucient to
take full advantage of the large image circle on the XT - Rodenstock HR
70mm f/5.6.
Using both horizontal and vertically shift at the same time can reach (or
exceed) the border of the lens image circle and introduce notable vignetting
or other image issues, but these can be cropped out after the stitching have
been done.
