Pile Driving
The operator places the pile into the guide bearing, as showed in the gure (phase 1). Then he
will lower the hammer (phase 2) unl the pile hammer template covers the headstock of the
pile, which prevents the pile against coming out (phase 3). Aer that, sll acvang the same
lever for another few seconds, he lowers the hammer group so the hammer group will unhook.
In this way, the hammer is not ed up anymore by the movement of the chain during the
hammering phase and will go down under its own weight. The operator then acvates the
hammering by bringing the respecve lever to its end point and by blocking it there. In that way,
the driving process will start. (phase 4).
3-5 Pile Extracon
Repeat the operaon as described in paragraph 3.3, with the addion though of the placement
of the supporng foot, as shown in the gure. Normally this foot is only used for the extracon
of piles. It is mounted in the side part of the column. It gives stability to the machine during the
extracon phase. It is also compulsory to use it during the extracon. The operator has to take
the xing pin out and has to lower the supporng foot that will come out to ground level. It is
not always possible to determine the consistency of the soil and because of this reason it is
always advisable to place a solid support between the ground and the supporng foot like a
wooden piece or a metallic plate. Next, the operator has to secure the supporng foot by
reinserng the xing pin, previously extracted, in the appropriate hole. At the end, he has to
lower the column unl it is placed well on the supporng piece. In that way, the extracon work
could start.
