Pile Driving
The operator places the pile into the guide bearing, as showed in the gure (phase 1). Then he
will lower the hammer (phase 2) unl the pile hammer template covers the headstock of the
pile, which prevents the pile against coming out (phase 3). Aer that, sll acvang the same
lever for another few seconds, he lowers the hammer group so the hammer group will unhook.
In this way, the hammer is not ed up anymore by the movement of the chain during the
hammering phase and will go down under its own weight. The operator then acvates the
hammering by bringing the respecve lever to its end point and by blocking it there. In that way,
the driving process will start. (phase 4).
3-5 Pile Extracon
Repeat the operaon as described in paragraph 3.3, with the addion though of the placement
of the supporng foot, as shown in the gure. Normally this foot is only used for the extracon
of piles. It is mounted in the side part of the column. It gives stability to the machine during the
extracon phase. It is also compulsory to use it during the extracon. The operator has to take
the xing pin out and has to lower the supporng foot that will come out to ground level. It is
not always possible to determine the consistency of the soil and because of this reason it is
always advisable to place a solid support between the ground and the supporng foot like a
wooden piece or a metallic plate. Next, the operator has to secure the supporng foot by
reinserng the xing pin, previously extracted, in the appropriate hole. At the end, he has to
lower the column unl it is placed well on the supporng piece. In that way, the extracon work
could start.
