ZoneWirelessSettings
EachzonehasitsownVAPandcorrespondstooneSSID.InPrivatezone,it’sVAP1andtheSSIDishidden,sopublicuserscannot
scanthisSSIDintheair,forprivilegeuserswhoalreadyknowthisSSID,theycanmanuallyassociatetotheSSIDofPrivatezone.
Ontheotherhand,theSSIDofVAP2underPubliczonebydefaultisenabledwithSSIDBroadcastfeature,allowingpublicusersto
scanthisSSIDintheair.
After wireless gen eral settings are done, use the parameters in Wireless Settings under zone configuration to fine tune the
wirelessnetworkunderPrivateandPublicZone.
ToconfigurePrivateZone‘sWirelessSettings,goto:System>>ServiceZone,clickConfigureforPrivatezone
WirelessSettings:VAP1(WirelessSettingsPrivateZone)
Basic: Enable the VAP Status if you wish to provide wireless service under this zone. Assign an ESSID to VAP1 under
PrivateZoneorusethedefault,theESSIDofPrivateZonewillnotbebroadcastandinternalstaffwilln eedtoassociate
toPrivateZone’sVAP1manually.
Security:ConfigurethewirelessnetworkunderPrivateZonewithsecurityencryptiontopreventunauthorizedwireless
associationifnecessary.ThesupportedencryptionstandardsareWEPandWPA‐PSK.
Advanced:TheparametersinAdvancedare wirelesssettingsthatallowcustomizationof data transmission,enhanced
securityandwirelessroaming.
Beacon Interval: The entered amount of tim
e indicates how often the beacon signal will be sent from the VA P . The
defaultvalueissetat100ms.
RTSThreshold:Enteravaluebetween1and2346.RTS(RequesttoSend)Thresholddeterminesthepacketsizeatwhich
the system issues a request to send (RTS) be
fore sendin g the frame to prevent hidden node problems. The RTS
mechanismwillbeactivatedifthedatasizeexceedsthevalueprovided.AlowerRTSThresholdsettingcanbeusefulin
areaswheremanyclientdevicesareassociatingwiththeRAYTALK RA ‐696 orinareaswheretheclientsarefarapartand
candetectonlytheRAYTA LKRA‐696butnoteachother.Thedefaultvalueissetat2346.
Fragment Threshold: Enter a value between 256 and 2346. The default value is 2346. Packet size larger than this
threshold,willbefragmented(sentwithseveralpiecesinsteadofonechunk)beforetransmission.A smallervalueresults
in smaller frames but allows a larger number of fram es in transmission.A lower Fragm ent Threshold setting can be
usefulinareaswherecommunicationispoorordisturbedbyaseriousamountofradiointerference.
