Fix Wi-Fi Direct connection
1. Check the printer to confirm that Wi-Fi Direct is turned on:
S From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab
at the top of the screen to
open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wi-Fi Direct).
2. From your wireless computer or mobile device, turn on the Wi-Fi connection, and then search for and
connect to the Wi-Fi Direct name of your printer.
3. Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password when prompted.
4. If you are using a mobile device, make sure you have installed a compatible printing app.
Fix Ethernet connection
Check the following:
The network is operational and the network hub, switch, or router is turned on.
The Ethernet cable is properly connected between the printer and the router. The Ethernet cable is
plugged into the Ethernet port on the printer and the light near the connector lights up when connected.
Antivirus programs, including spyware protection programs, are not impacting your network connection
to the printer. If you know that antivirus or firewall software is preventing your computer from
connecting to the printer, use the Ricoh online firewall troubleshooter to help solve the problem.
Firewall blocks driver install or printer functions (Windows)
Firewall software helps block threats from outside your network, but some firewall settings or configurations
can block communication with network printers.
Firewall settings might cause the following issues:
Printer software and drivers cannot be installed
During the driver installation the printer is not found on the network
Some printer functions work while others do not
The printer suddenly stops printing
A Not connected status displays even though the printer is connected to the network
Step 1: Temporarily disable firewall software (Windows)
Firewall software helps block threats from outside your network, but some settings or configurations can block
communication with network printers.
1. Select the Start button > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security and then Firewall &
network protection.
Open Windows Security settings
2. Select Update & Security.
3. Select a network profile: Domain network, Private network, or Public network.
4. Under Microsoft Defender Firewall, switch the setting to Off. Turning off Microsoft Defender Firewall
could make your device (and network, if you have one) more vulnerable to unauthorized access. If theres
an app you need to use that’s being blocked, you can allow it through the firewall, instead of turning the
firewall off.
5. If a User Account Control message displays, click Yes.
