278 Chapter 8 Solve a problem EN
Step 1: Reconnect the printer
Try connecting the printer again to regain access to Printer Assistant tools.
1. Click Connect a new device.
When prompted, select the connection type, and then follow the on-screen instructions to set up the
printer.
NOTE: If a red X displays and the connection fails, click Retry, and then continue to the next step.
2. Press the power button on the printer to turn it off.
3. Close all running programs on your computer, and then restart your computer.
4. Turn on the printer.
5. Open Ricoh Printer Assistant.
If you can open Printer Assistant, the issue is resolved.
If you cannot open Printer Assistant or the red X displays and the connection still fails, continue
to the next step.
Step 2: Uninstall any Ricoh printer software
Uninstall the Ricoh print driver and software before reinstalling the latest driver.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if necessary.
2. In Windows, search for and open the Control Panel.
3. Click Programs and Features.
4. In the list of installed programs, click your Ricoh printer name, and then click Uninstall or Yes.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal.
6. Restart the computer.
Step 3: Reinstall the latest driver from the Ricoh website
After uninstalling the software, download and install the latest version of the full feature software.
1. Turn on the printer.
2. If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer. The
software installation prompts you to connect the cable if needed.
3. Open the Ricoh website.

4. Select the language.
5. Select Ricoh Printer Assistant software in the Utility tab, and then click Download.
6. During the installation, select the Typical or Recommended type of installation when prompted by the
software installer.
