3.9 Measuring the Occupied Bandwidth

DSA1030/DSA1030-TG that has installed the Advanced Measurement Kit option can
measure the occupied bandwidth. In the example below, we use a generator (such as
RIGOL DG3101A) to output a sine signal with 100 MHz and -10 dBm as the signal
under measure.

Procedures:
1. Device attachment
Connect the output terminal of the generator to the RF INPUT 50Ω terminal on
the front panel of the analyzer.

2. Measure the power distribution
(1) Reset the analyzer
-Press Preset
(2) Set the parameters
-Press FREQ
-Press Center Freq and enter 100 MHz.
-Press Meas
-Press Meas Fctn and enter the lower menu.
-Press OBW
(3) Modify the occupied bandwidth settings
-Press Meas Setup
-Press OBW Span and enter 2 MHz.
-Press Power Ratio and enter 99%.

3. Measurement result
The measurement results shown in the lower window are 53.333 kHz (Occupied
bandwidth) and 0 Hz (Transmit frequency error), see figure below.
